Reporting Absences 

If your student must miss school, please send a written or digital note within two days of returning.

Excused absences include:

• Illness or injury

• A death in the family

• Health care appointments

• Court appearances

• Religious observances

• Natural disasters

• Educational Leave of Absence (requires at least 7 days in advance approval)

To request an educational leave of absence, download and complete this form. Please note that completed form must be submitted to the MCHS Attendance Office prior to absence:

• Submit educational absence request

Without a note, the absence will be marked unexcused. If your child has three or more unexcused absences, we will contact you to discuss ways to support regular attendance.

Final Exam Exemptions (updated August 2026)

Early Dismissal/Checkout:

• Students may be checked out of school only by an authorized parent/guardian or adult.
• If you need to check your student out of school, please email student attendance at mchs-attendance@wcpss.net. Student check out can not be done via phone. 
• No student check-outs after 2pm. 

School Hours: 7:25 a.m. - 2:18 p.m.
