Hello this is Wade Martin calling from Middle Creek High School. Next week our Student Government Association is sponsoring Spring Awareness Week and is coordinating a number of exciting activities for the student body. All proceeds raised during the various events will be donated by SGA to the American Cancer Society. Each day next week students are encouraged to participate in the theme of the day. Monday is Team Sports and Hat day. Only those who purchased the $1.00 hat pass this past week can wear their hats on Monday; Tuesday is Stoplight Day (your student will have to explain it to you); Wednesday is Classy Day and Thursday is Nerdy Day.
I also want to encourage all of our families to visit the Middle Creek website and respond to our School Improvement Team’s, Parent Survey linked to our home page. The survey button is in the top menu. The survey will be open through the end of next week. Our school improvement team values your feedback.
Events going on at Middle Creek next week include:
Monday – JV and Varsity Soccer versus Green Hope, and Softball game that was cancelled from today will be played.
Tuesday – JV and Varsity Baseball versus Green Hope, JV and Varsity Men’s Lacrosse versus Cary
Wednesday – all students registered for AP testing will complete the Pre-Administration and at 5:30 on the practice athletic field, SGA is holding Mustang Madness
Thursday – Senior Group Picture will be taken (seniors need to remember their cap and gowns), Track Meet versus Athens Drive at 3:30.
Friday – Student vs Staff Basketball Game at 3:30 followed by the Talent Show and Mr. Mustang Pageant at 6:30. Varsity Softball plays against Athens Dr (Senior Night) and Women’s Lacrosse will be playing Green Hope.
Saturday – Band Yard Sale in the loop starting at 8:00 and the Stampede 5K starting at 10:00. I encourage all of our families to come out and participate on Saturday; it’s going to be a great community event.

Come out on Thursday night at 7 o'clock for a FREE performance by the Theatre Arts 3 and 4 students. They will be presenting 4 pieces written, designed, directed, and performed by the class. It will last about an hour total, and remember, it's free!
"The PTSA and the Reflections Art Contest Committee would like to recognize the exceptional participation of 3 students in the new category of Special Artists this year. Joseph Matthews, Shadonia Sawyer and Judy Stephens will all be recognized at the State Awards Ceremony next Saturday the 20th for their Photography entries. Please help us congratulate these students on a job well done!”
On Wednesday this week the registration table for the Stampede 5K will be set-up at lunch. Look for the red balloons and be sure to turn-in your registration form! The 5K will be on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 am. This year the race will be led by some local Harley Davidson riders! The Middle Creek sports program with the most runner participants so far is the Girls Soccer Program! What other programs are up for the challenge? 5K medals for top female and male runners in all age groups. Course record to beat for male is 19:37 and female 23:22. Top overall winners receive a trophy! If you miss lunch this week, turn-in your forms to the main office any day!
There will be a mandatory National Achiever's Society meeting for new members today. The meeting will be held in room 2304 and begin promptly at 2:30 pm. It should only last 30 minutes.
The media center is hosting a STEM / Engineering Design Cycle reading event. Please come by to pick out a novel which incorporates the concepts of STEM or the Engineering Design Cycle. After you read the book, complete a short review form and get a prize. If you record a book review for the MCHS homepage, you can earn another prize.
Seniors: Are you interested in Summer Employment? Vector Marketing has summer work opportunities for graduating seniors. Great Pay and flexible schedules are available. They will have a table set up outside the luncheon on Thursday, April 25 during all lunches. Stop by during lunch for more information.
The MCHS band will be having a Yard sale and Bake Sale on Sat. April 27 in the bus loop. Come by when you are running in the Stampede Club's 5K! Our spring concert in Sunday, May 19th. All 3 bands will be performing.

You can get one in the Student Services Office. This form will need to be filled out and brought to the ticket tables available on various days before or after school. Guest tickets are $50 - DEADLINE to get your guest form returned and pay is APRIL 26th!
The Jewelry Design Club will meet in Ms. B. Taylor's room in 304 today at 2:45. The project will be enameling on copper. For students who completed the Fused Glass Project last month, Dr. Jones will have your pieces ready to pick up at this meeting.
It is now time to register for the Summer Driver Education classes. Summer Registration forms are available in Student Services. You must file out the summer registration form if you plan to take the driver education class during the summer. All forms must be completed and returned to Student Services by May 17th for priority schedules (your class choice). Any forms received after May 17th will be assigned to classes based upon slot availability. Summer registration forms and class schedules are also found at www.jordandriving.com for your base school and all other schools in Wake County.

There are two photo poses (serious and silly). If purchasing, each photo is $15. They can order and pay the photographer while in the gym.

Students and staff will receive a special discount on their registration fee! You may register on-line through the Stampede Club website. Middle Creek athletes…rally your teammates and sign-up to run together! Don't feel like running? The event needs MANY volunteers. Sign-up to volunteer! Good Saturday afternoon Middle Creek families, this is Wade Martin calling with some important reminders.
Please be sure to ask your student to see their 3rd quarter report card. Report cards were distributed yesterday. If parents have questions about your student’s grade I encourage you to contact your student’s teacher by email. We also sent home another important document with your student’s report card. Student Information Verification Forms were provided to all students so that we can be sure that we have accurate contact for all families. Please follow the directions at the bottom of the sheet in the memo section if corrections need to be made.
I would also like to remind all of our families that Friday, April 19th is an early release day so that we can provide important staff development to our teachers. Please be sure to make the necessary arrangements to have your student picked up from school at our early dismissal time.

The Middle Creek High School Symphonic band performed at the Central District Music Performance Adjudication on Tues. March 26 in Franklinton, NC. They performed in Grade 6, the highest level in the state of NC. All 4 judges rated them Superior! Congratulations! The band will be having a Yard sale and Bake Sale on Sat. April 27 in the bus loop. The goal of the session is to bring high school students and their families in direct contact with representatives from Wake Tech Admissions, Advising and Financial Aid. The U.S. Department of Education/Federal Student Aid is sponsoring several Title IV Student Financial Aid Information and Awareness sessions for prospective and currently enrolled students who plan to enroll in a post-secondary institution for the 13-14 academic year. An informational session has been scheduled for the Durham, NC area. It will be held on April 30, 2013, 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the School of Education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. Topics will include an overview of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), grants, loans and federal work study. Parents will also learn about the Parent Loan for Undergraduate students and steps may be available for possible reconsideration of any denials.
We cordially invite you and your students/parents to join us for this session. Students and parents will have the opportunity to talk one-on-one with U.S. Department of Education representatives. While no registration is required, space is limited and seating is on a first come basis.

Are you bringing a guest to prom? Guests that are underclass, from another high school, or are under age 21 and in college or employed, MUST fill out a guest form. You can get one in the Student Services Office. This form will need to be filled out and brought to the ticket tables available on various days before school, at lunch, or after school. Guest tickets are $50 - DEADLINE to get your guest form returned and pay is APRIL 26th!

The Stampede Club's 2nd Annual Stampede 5K will be held Saturday, April 27 @ 10:00 am starting in Mustang Stadium and follow a certified and timed course. A new event, the Mustang Mile, will be held on our school track immediately following the 5K. All race proceeds will benefit the student-athletes here at Middle Creek. Lunch time registrations for students and staff will be held this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Students and staff will receive a special discount on their registration fee! Be sure to stop by at lunch and pick-up a registration form! You may also register on-line through the Stampede Club website. Middle Creek athletes…rally your teammates and sign-up to run together! Get your registration done by April 9 to guarantee receiving a free official race t-shirt! Don't feel like running? The event needs MANY volunteers. Talent show and Student /Faculty basketball forms are available in student services or outside room 3204. Guys- Think you are the most well-rounded Mustang- if so, compete to be named the 2013 Mr. Mustang. Contestants will be judged in categories that highlight intelligence, confidence, ability to communicate, and sense of style. Applications are available now outside room 3204 or in student services.
