SUMMER NOTEBOOK Middle Creek High School students are encouraged to participate in summer activities that include community service, exposure to careers, and academic challenge. Counselors receive notices and letters about many opportunities. Therefore the Guidance Department maintains a Summer Notebook that contains information and applications. Some opportunities will be advertised on the morning announcements at 9:05. These daily announcements are available on the school website. We also post information on the column in the Commons. Students (and parents) are also encouraged to come by the Guidance Office before and after school and during lunch to look at the Summer Notebook. Frequently teachers are also aware of summer programs. Finally, the Thursday edition of the News & Observer lists volunteer activities that are appropriate for high school students.
Flying and Aviation The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking high school students interested in flying and aviation. You can attend a weeklong camp conducted by a community college and located near an airport for $100. See the Summer Notebook in the Guidance Office for a brochure and the website.
