We are proud to call him one of our 'Leading Galloping Mustangs'! Kristine Rishel signed on November 12, 2009 to play Division 1 basketball with Winthrop College. Congratulations! Tammy Rhye-Butler has been named as the NC School Counselor of the Year! Abby Peoples and Melissa Ordonez were recently honored at a conference in Raleigh for Second Language Teachers from across the state (FLANC-Foreign Language Association of NC). The received recognition in fron of "future colleagues" for their dedication in pursuing Spanish and for their goal of becoming a Spanish Teacher! Felicidades! Congratulations! 10/28/09 Thanks to Matthew Schell, Zachary Paturzo, Brandon Putman-The "WWE Wrestler", Jessica Smith, Justine Leach, John Paul "J.P." Santiago for hydrating our student athletes for practices and games. Each day, through their vocational education class, they fill ice chests and water coolers for the MCHS athletes. Their role is crucial for maintaining adequate hydration levels. The Varsity Soccer team defeated Apex 2-1 last night. Matt Frongello and Bobby Castro scored goals and Chad Guntger added an assist. Mustang Band of Middle Creek High School performed at the 51st edition
of Cary Band Day on Sat. Oct. 31. Thanks to Whitney Stilwell, Senntra Snowden, Ben Fisch, and Justin Harris as leading galloping Mustangs, and a special thanks to Mr. Shipp, Mr. Maldonado, and the SGA staff for making this pep rally one of the greatest that MCHS has ever had!! Thanks to Aimee Mushrush, Rachel Gibson, Jim Turner, Chris Jasinski, Ashley Klein, and Whitney Stillwell for planning and working to make this past week our best Spirit Week ever!! The Mighty Middle Creek Marching Mustang Band went to Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain, NC this weekend for their Warhorse Classic Band Competition. They won the following awards: 1st Place Hornline in Class 3A, 1st Place Percussion in Class 3A, 1st Place Color Guard in Class 3A, 1st Place Band in Class 3A. Congratulations for a wonderful performance. The MCHS Band will be performing at Cary Band Day this Sat., October 31, 2009 at 4:00pm MCHS Digital Media II classes annually compete in the NC State Fair Graphic Design competion. The competition is an open competition for high school students across the state. We have competed in this competition for five years and a MCHS student has placed in the top five every year. Once again we have proven to be the leader in this medium. Steven Blikslager was awarded 1st place for his graphic in the competition. Congratulations! Congratulations to the Mustang Volleyball team as they celebrated a tremendous victory last night over rival Panther Creek. The victory was lead by sensational seniors Caroline Beam, Kelly Gentri, Emily Horton, and DeAnna Scarborough. Assisting in the outstanding win also were juniors Rachel Ruch, Tori Candler, and Taylor Prichett. This would not have been possible without the best management staff: Brittany Payne, Teal, Shae, Will, and Corey! A special thanks to the fans that attended senior night for the ladies and cheered us to victory! Congratulations to the Concert Band and Choirs for their Performance on 10/13/09. The Mighty MCHS Marching Mustang Band went to the Fuquay-Varina High School Festival of Bands 10/17/09. The won the following awards: 3rd Place Music in Class 3A, 3rd Place Visual Effect, 3rd Place General Effect, 3rd Place Color Guard, 2nd Place Percussion, Pit Crew Award, and 2nd Place Overall in Class 3A. We were the 4th highest scoring band out of 16 at the contest. Congratulations to the Mighty Marching Mustang Band of MCHS for the following awards from 10/3/09 at the Wakefield High School Heart of Carolina Marching Band contest: 1st Place Drum Majors in Class AA, 2nd Place Percussion in Class AA, 1st Place in Overall Effect Caption in Class AA, and 3rd Place Overall Band in Class AA. Great job!! The MCHS Band performed at the Southeast Raleigh High School Bulldog Bash 9/26/09. The won 1st place Band in class 3A, and 1st place in the following areas: Music, General Effect, Marching and Manuevering, Color Guard, Percussion and Drum Majors. The band was awarded a Superior Rating for their performance. The were also the Grand Champions of Classes 3A and 4A. The band also won it's first ever Band of the Day award for the highest score of all the bands at the contest. Congratulations! MCHS student, Gianna vincent volunteered at the Aversboro Elementary Fall Carnival 9/26/09. She represented our school in an extrordinary way. She was a great role model for the younger children. Samantha Wilson is recognized for her work assisting with the MU class during ESY 2009. (9/23/09) Judy Ugwuebu, Heather Newmen, Lauren Bullock, Sam Lee, and Daniel Gallagher have recognized by the National Achievement Scholar Program for Academic Excellence. MCHS art students won the "most original" in the Raleigh Street Painting Festival in the high school category. Designed by Saul Zavala, and drawn by Crystal Holder, Nick Bocchino, and Lynn Norris. MCHS had 15 squares, the most of any year so far. (9/22/09) Sam Lee completed a project to train our staff members about CPR and other emergency response procedures. His work has earned him the Eagle Scout rank. Danny Zambrano received his professional CCNA certification this summer. This is a first for WCPSS. Congratulations to Trey Geiger and Sheila Delhagen for top 10 finishes at the Western North Carolina Cross Country Festival (August 2009) The MCHS Lay Mustang Golf Team finished 3rd in the nine team conference match at Lee County on Wednesday. Whitney Stilwell, Betsy Dohrer, Mackenzie Williams, and Katlyn West led the Mustangs. Join us in congratulating two writers who received notice of publication in the Appalachia East Poetry Anthology over the summer. They are Maya Bullock and Andrew Ulbrich. In addition, Belinda Sears now goes to Broughton, but she was published through her efforts in creative writing as well. MCHS has been listed as a Poetic Achievement Honor School in their latest anthology. Several of our students have won at their $25-$100 prize level.
